Sakeware that brings out the best in sake

Setsubun has passed and we are now entering a new year according to the lunar calendar.

With renewed enthusiasm, we look forward to spreading the enjoyment of aged sake together with all of you.

Now, the joy and pleasure of alcohol has been a theme in poetry since ancient times.

The Manyoshu also contains songs about alcohol, and among them, Otomo no Tabito's thirteen "Songs Praising Alcohol" are well known.

My favorite is that first one.

Don't think of things that have no proof.

It seems that I need to drink a cup of murky sake.

If I were to translate it freely,

"Don't dwell on things that have no answers.

It's much better to have a glass of unrefined sake."

It seems that way.

I feel that this song goes beyond the idea that foolish thinking is as bad as resting, and takes a step towards praising alcohol by suggesting that it's best to try drinking some alcohol first.

Depending on how you look at it, you could also say that I've found another reason to drink alcohol.

So, what kind of sake cup was this?

The taste of sake can change greatly depending on the sake vessel it is served in.

I wonder what kind of cup the traveller used to drink the cloudy sake.

When it comes to aged sake, there are many brands that taste even better when served at room temperature in a glass, or warmed and served in your favorite cup.

For this reason, at Juku to Kan's in-store bar, customers can enjoy the unique color, aroma, and flavor of aged sake in specially made white porcelain cups.

We have received many questions from customers asking, "Can I buy this?", so we have decided to have an artist bake additional pieces of the same product and sell them online.

The white porcelain made by Uchida Tomohiro, like that of his apprentice Kuroda Taizo, is a wonderful cup that "brings out the charm of sake," with an indescribable comfort to hold and a pleasant sip.

Please take this opportunity to try it out.
